Poetry Group Report Nov 07

There were 16 members at this meeting, which was very lively, discussing  Hillaire Belloc  light-hearted poems. Bob Fenner had obtained, from the 'web' a short biography of Belloc, and he had also found some information on the 'Sonnet' form of verse for the group to try and understand. It was felt that further time be allocated to this later on.
Next Meeting in December, the Poet for discussion would be, Alison Reed's choice of Michael Rosen, and the theme would be Winter; those of the group who wished to try their hand at writing were encouraged to try writing a 'the sonnet'. ( but not compulsory !)
It was also decided to discuss the Japanese form of 'Haiku' verse.

The  group also read  2 poems by Maurice Wicks  (1915 - 1967) : Hullavington by Moonlight and Days Gone By

The theme for November was IF I and a collection of poems written by group members are below
